  • Blooming Bath Receives The National Parenting Center's Seal of Approval

The coming of spring has also brought news that the Blooming Bath for babies bathtub has been selected to receive The National Parenting Center’s Seal of Approval!

Since 1989 The National Parenting Center has been providing parents with comprehensive parenting advice from a panel of experts in the field.

Each season the group puts out a report featuring the latest and greatest children's products that have been awarded with the Center’s Seal.

Products like the Blooming Bath are tested in a multi-step process over an eight-week period. Volunteer testers, made up of both parents and children, get the opportunity to play, build, read about and in our case, bath their babies, in the products being considered for the Seal. Volunteers then judge the results by gauging the reactions of the children and the quality of the product.

Blooming Bath is thrilled that our Blooming Bath for babies bath tub was found worthy of this great award.

That means the Blooming Bath for babies will be included in the Center’s spring report and featured through its search engine search site.

That’s exciting news considering 68 percent of mothers say they specifically look for The National Parenting Center’s Seal of Approval designation on the products they purchase.

Expect to see the Blooming Bath for babies bathtub included in The National Parenting Center’s spring seal of approval report.

Until then, you can find additional baby and childrens' products that have earned The National Parenting Center Seal of Approval by clicking here.

  • Celebrate Sleep Awareness With A Blooming Bath Giveaway!

This week Blooming Bath is helping celebrate the thing new parents hardly ever seem to get enough of and the thing we wish our babies would do more of – SLEEP!

Below are just a few things you can do to help get your new babies to sleep, which means, you’ll likely get more shuteye as well.

Tips For Starting a Nightly Sleep Routine With Baby

Start early and at the same time each night. Consistency is key in building a nightly routine that will stick.

Relax your child with a nightly bath. Not only is giving your baby a bath at night a great time for bonding, it can also help them relax and fall asleep more quickly.

Once you put baby to bed, use that time to either read or sing them a song to send them into sweet dreams.

The temperature and lighting in your nursery can play a big part in your baby’s sleep (or lack thereof). Temperature in the room should be set between 65 to 70 degrees and the lighting should mimic that of natural light. So be sure to dim the lights when the sun sets.

  • Spring Is A Great Time To Start Trying To Have A Baby

Ready to have a baby? Now might be the best time of year to start trying.

According to a study written up in The American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology, sperm apparently are stronger and faster in winter months and the early months of spring.

The study used 6,455 samples from fertility clinics over a three-year time span – from 2006 to 2009. What they found was the healthiest “swimmers” were produced in the winter months and the first fews of months of spring.

According to the report, the speed and mobility of sperm can mean a better chance of a couple getting pregnant.

The researchers encouraged those who are having a hard time conceiving, or those just beginning to start trying to have a baby, to consider the winter and early spring months, since it takes the male body 70 days to produce a sperm cell.

So, if you are ready to get pregnant, now just may be the time "spring" into action because spring officially beings this Friday, March 20.

    Already have a baby?

Why not celebrate spring by picking up a spring-colored Blooming Bath for Babies bathtub like Canary Yellow or Green. Spring is also the time of year for baby showers so be sure to stock up!

  • Baby Bath Time Is The Best Quality Time

We all know that bath time with baby is a special time. It allows for bonding between parents and baby, but did you know that bath time can also help with baby’s brain development?

A new study, Johnson’s Global Bath Time Report, shows that 84 percent of parents say bath time is the best quality time they get with their babies, while 58 percent of parents think it’s important for brain baby's development.

In fact, the report says that activities like splashing in the water teaches babies cause and effect, while playing with bubbles helps babies develop hand-eye coordination, as well as helps them discover that objects exist even when they can’t be seen.

In addition, the study found that babies bathed with a fragranced product spend nearly 25 percent less time crying before bed than babies who were not.

Of course, one of the things we love about bath time the most is how relaxing it can be for baby, especially when they bathed in the Blooming Bath bath tub. Don’t believe us? Just check out these adorable shots of some of our smallest fans.

  • Chinese Year of The Goat Starts Next Week

Due to have a baby next week? Next week marks the celebration of The Chinese New Year. And, based on the lunar calendar, the 2015 Chinese New Year starts on February 19, 2015 and lasts through February 7, 2016.

Each new year is represented by a different astrological sign. Chinese astrology consists of 12 different zodiac signs (rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog and pig) represented by animals as well as five different elements (fire, earth, metal, water, wood) that change depending on the year.

Right now, the year of the Wooden Horse is coming to a close and on February 19, the year of the goat will begin.

Moms who are pregnant and will give birth between February 19, 2015 and February 7, 2016, will have babies born under the Chinese astrological sign of the goat.

According to the Chinese, the goat is said to be a symbol of both beauty and fortune. So what should parents who are expecting little goats expect?

Babies born under the goat sign are said to be mild mannered, quiet and gentle. They are also daydreamers and often creative and artistic.

The element associated with the 2015 goat is wood, which means parents can expect amicable and compassionate children as well.

The luckiest flowers for goat babies are carnations and primroses, but we like to think that Blooming Bath is a pretty good choice as well, especially for helping keep that mild-mannered nature during bath time.

Here are some other famous goats you may have heard of: Michelangelo, Claire Danes, Matthew LeBlanc and Barbara Walters.

  • 5 Tips For Starting Healthy Dental Habits Early

February is Children’s Dental Health Month.  The designation was given by the American Dental Association as a way to encourage good dental hygiene habits at an early age.

While your baby may still be a few months away from needing to use a toothbrush, it’s always a good idea to keep their dental health in mind from the start.

Here are 5 tips for ensuring your baby develops good dental hygiene habits early.

    1. Mom’s should use xylitol while pregnant and while nursing. Studies have shown that moms who chew xylitol gum or use xylitol mints both during and following pregnancy can help reduce the number of  cavities their children have. Xylitol, is a naturally occurring sugar, that helps reduce the amount of bad bacteria in baby’s mouth, leading to fewer cavities. By the age of 5, the children from the study whose mothers used xylitol early on had 70% fewer dental cavities than the others.

    2. Don’t send baby to bed with a bottle. Sending baby to bed with a bottle can allow liquid the settle around their teeth, creating a breeding ground for bacteria and eventually, cavities. Giving baby bottles of juice and formula are particularly bad and can create the dissolving tooth enamel, which leads to cavities.

    3. Start wiping down baby's teeth. Before your baby even gets his or her first tooth, you should get into the habit of wiping their gums gently with a wet washcloth. This helps remove bacteria.

    4. Start brushing. Your baby’s teeth will typically start coming in around the 6-month mark. At that time, you can buy a baby toothbrush to use with a pea-sized amount of fluoride toothpaste. Brush gently twice a day.

    5. Make their first dental appointment. Around the time your child turns one is a good opportunity to take them to the dentist for the first time. The dentist can evaluate any potential dental issues and suggest any need preventive risks at that time.

Taking these easy steps will help ensure your baby and his or her teeth get a healthy start.
